Nursing home abuse occurs when a resident is physically abused, raped or sexually assaulted, over-sedated or subjected to verbal and/or emotional abuse in nursing homes.  Abuse in nursing homes can be hard to detect since many times the residents have trouble communicating and may have limited family contact.

Nursing home neglect may present itself it many different ways.  Examples include neglectful nursing care, failure to remove dangerous conditions from the premise, lack of staff for certain procedures (transfers from wheel chairs to beds, transfers to shower chairs, bathing, etc.), and failure to properly identify patient needs.

These issues may be complex and often require expensive litigation to resolve.
